“For Johnny?”
“We got him a scooter.”
“And mummy?”
“We bought her some perfume, and new slippers.”
“Slippers?”
“Yes – hers are worn out. Do you think she’ll like these.”
“They’re purple! Her favourite colour. What about Brad?”
“Brad won’t be here this year. He’s still overseas. I sent
him a food parcel and a beautiful jumper.”
“I thought he was going to be back for Christmas.”
“No, he’s doing an important job. He’s got to stay. We’ll
see him soon.”
“I wish he was here.”
“Me too Pushki. Now, enough talk. Let’s finish decorating
the tree and set the table.”

Nicely done. Happy Christmas.
ReplyDeleteDear Roger,
ReplyDeleteYou can never go wrong with purple slippers. So is this a conversation with a cat? Nice dialogue.
Shalom,
Rochelle
I hope he's home for the next Christmas. Your story was a lovely start to my day. Merry Christmas to you and yours and may they all be home.
ReplyDeleteOoh, mine also features a conversation with the cat. I really liked that we didn't discover that until the end.
ReplyDeleteI hope he makes it home as well. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteTom
What a wonderful post. I think it is with a child and not the cat, and hope Brad is truly safe.
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to new slippers at Christmas! Sounds like a conversation a lot of people are having in these last few days. Now the tree, I must attend to mine. Ornaments are required. Thank you for the lovely dialogue.
ReplyDeleteLoved the name Pushki. A great little tale full of hidden care and worry. Subtle yet right there out in the open. Good job.
ReplyDeleteAloha,
Doug
